India and Australia are all set to clash in the three-match ODI series starting from October 19. There would be a lot of quality players at work during the series, but two of the major attractions would be Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Rohit has been removed as ODI captain, and there are doubts about whether the two stalwarts would last till the 2027 World Cup.

Thus, their performances are likely to be closely monitored, and if they fail, that might be the end of their career. Thus, it would be interesting to see how they tackle the might of the Australian bowlers. So, in this article, we will look at the three Aussie bowlers who can trouble Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Adam Zampa

In Australia, pacers play a dominant role, but Adam Zampa, over the years, has been very effective in white-ball cricket. He has troubled the best of the batters with his variations and accuracy and has been impressive against Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli too. The spinner has dismissed Rohit Sharma four times in the 128 balls he has bowled to him, while he has got the better of Virat Kohli in ODIs six times.

Kohli, as a number 3 batter, has also scored a lot of runs against Zampa. However, the Australian spinner has also managed to find his wickets in the middle overs, which many bowlers find it tough against Virat Kohli in ODIs.

Josh Hazlewood

Josh Hazlewood is fit after a regular struggle with injuries and is slowly but steadily getting back to his best. He is known for his accuracy and thus could trouble both Rohit and Kohli with that corridor of uncertainty channel on the pitches that might provide some help.

He has been pretty effective against Virat Kohli in ODIs over the years. He has removed the star Indian cricketer five times, and Kohli has managed to score just 58 runs off 98 balls against him. Also, Kohli is known for his trouble with deliveries outside the off-stump line, and Hazlewood can exploit it again in this series.

Rohit has done better against Josh Hazlewood, but the bowler's ability to get the movement off the deck with the new ball might lead to the undoing of the former Indian captain. Also, Rohit has been batting aggressively upfront in white-ball cricket, and it could be problematic against the accuracy of Josh Hazlewood.

Mitchell Starc

The x-factor for Australia over the years has recently retired from T20Is, but he is still a potent weapon and can run through the batting line-ups on his day. He has got the better of Rohit Sharma three times in ODIs and Virat Kohli only once. However, Starc, with his left-arm angle and ability to get the ball into the right-hander, can be dangerous.

Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been vulnerable against left-arm seamers with the new ball in the past and could find it tough to handle Starc, if he finds his rhythm. Also, there could be some rustiness for both the batters and thus they need to be careful against Starc especially early in their innings.
