PCB Offer Condolences After Demise Of Former Chairman Shaharyar Khan

Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan passed away in the early hours of March 23 in Lahore.

The board, through current chairman, recently expressed its grief over the demise of ex-Pakistan cricket team manager, who passed away at the brink of his 90th birthday.


Mohsin Naqvi offers condolences for Shaharyar Khan

Career Pakistani diplomat Shahryar Khan, who also served as the chairman of the PCB for two different terms, passed away on March 23 in Lahore at the age of 89.

Khan was appointed as PCB Chairman from December 2003 to October 2006 and from August 2014 till August 2017. Moreover, he worked as the manager of the Pakistan cricket team during their 1999 tour of India and during the 2003 Cricket World Cup in South Africa. Outside Pakistan’s cricketing spectrum, he served the sport as the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in 2016.

Mere hours after his demise, current PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi offered his condolences and also expressed his admirations for the former cricket administrator. 

“On behalf of the PCB, I express my deep condolences and grief over the passing of former Chairman Shaharyar Khan. He was a fine administrator and served Pakistan Cricket with utmost dedication. Pakistan Cricket will stay indebted to the late Shaharyar Khan for his commendable role as head of the board and for his services in the growth and development of the game in the country," Naqvi said through PCB's release.

Shaharyar Khan’s administrative career came to a conclusion after he retired from the Chairman position in 2017 by completing his term.
