In a recent development in Pakistan cricket, PCB has reportedly made contact with several foreign coaches, including Justin Langer, Matthew Hayden, and Gary Kirsten, to offer a long-term contract as Pakistan's senior team's head coach.

PCB is currently in the rebuilding phase after Mohsin Naqvi's appointment as the chairman of the board. He is of the view that foreign coaches are the need of the hour with the impending T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy in sight.

However, due to PCB's problematic trend of hiring and firing coaches as they please without any prior notice or viable reasons, foreign coaches are hesitant to sign a long-term contract.

Most recently, former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson rejected a startling $2 million contract, citing prior commitments.

Meanwhile, despite setbacks, the PCB chairman is not backing down. As per Jang Newspaper, PCB contacted several foreign coaches after Watson's rejection this past week. Justin Langer, Gary Kirsten, Mike Hesson, Matthew Hayden, Eoin Morgan, and Phil Simmons are some of the names mentioned in the report.

Notably, Justin Langer has coached the Australian Test team in the past and has a fine track record. Gary Kirsten was a part of the Indian senior team that won the World Cup in 2011.

Mike Hesson was relieved from RCB earlier this year and subsequently joined the current PSL champions, Islamabad United.

Besides aforementioned names, PCB also approached Daren Sammy, who also declined the offer, citing a prior commitment to West Indian cricket.

That being said, with the T20 series against New Zealand on the horizon, Pakistan is likely to field without a full-fledged coaching staff. PCB is apparently making arrangements to hire a temporary staff member who will be contracted only for the particular bilateral series.
