The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has dropped attacking top-order batter Fakhar Zaman from Pakistan’s upcoming white-ball tours of Australia and Zimbabwe. Fakhar has been hogging the limelight off late, albeit for all the wrong reasons prior to his exclusion from the national line-up.

A couple of weeks ago, the 34-year-old criticized the PCB for dropping senior batter and former captain Babar Azam from Pakistan’s Test XI against England. Fakhar’s public criticism ended up drawing him much flak from the board, considering the PCB issued him a show-cause notice to explain his actions.

Moreover, the 2017 Champions Trophy alumni also failed to complete a fitness test, and made some candid remarks regarding PCB’s strict new policies over limiting No Objection Certificates (NOC) to players for participation in overseas T20 leagues.

Pakistan fans support Fakhar Zaman

Fakhar Zaman has been receiving much support from Pakistan fans, with some alleging that the dashing opening batter has been unjustly treated by the PCB. A legion of Pakistan cricket enthusiasts took to X and cited Fakhar’s prior white-ball record, and also described PCB’s decision a ‘brainless’ one, at a time when the Pakistan cricket team is bracing itself for a home Champions Trophy next year.

Additionally, a handful of fans also berated Babar Azam for not making a single post in support for Fakhar Zaman, even though the latter recently landed in a ‘show-cause’ trouble for the former Pakistan captain.

Here is a look at some of the fans expressing their rage and fury towards the PCB on the microblogging site:

Apart from getting axed from the national squad, Fakhar Zaman was also excluded from Pakistan men’s central contract list. While fans are claiming that Fakhar was dropped from the team because of his recent remarks on NOCs for overseas leagues and for PCB’s treatment of Babar Azam, the real reason behind his exclusion is yet to be determined.

The Pakistan cricket team will be touring Australia for a series of three ODIs and three T20I matches between November 4 and November 18. The ‘Men in Green’ will subsequently take flight for Bulawayo in Zimbabwe for another six white-ball fixtures.
