Rohit Sharma and Company are under heavy criticism as they suffered an embarrassing home series defeat after 12 years, as New Zealand beat India by 113 runs in the 2nd Test to clinch the series.
The fans are upset and are criticising their team for the lacklustre performance in the ongoing series. Meanwhile, several cricket pundits too have criticised the team. The latest to join the bandwagon is Pakistan's Ahmed Shehzad.
Shehzad Slams Rohit Sharma And Company
Shehzad, who is now frequent on social media and regularly opines his views on the recent happenings in the game, slammed the Indian team and cited that people are referring to Rohit and his side as 'Paper Tigers'.
“New Zealand have come to India and thrashed them as if they had the right to do so, beating them like kids and walking away. They’ve pulled a prank on India. People are now saying, ‘Kagaz ke sher, aur ghar mein dher‘ (Tigers on paper, crumbled at home)," Shehzad was quoted as saying on his YouTube channel.
“When India were bowled out for 46 runs (in the first Test), Rohit Sharma had said, ‘Everyone has a bad day.’ And we accept that. Absolutely fair. But in this Test match too, the way you’ve played cricket, it seems like you’ve become complacent. Rohit Sharma says that they don’t believe in unnecessary talk, but that spirit was missing in the last two Tests. These two matches have been played in a way that makes it seem like schoolboys were playing," Shehzad added.
With the two defeats, the WTC table has opened up as India are still the table toppers, but their PCT has dropped to 62.82. Now, India would have to do well in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to secure a spot in the finals.
