Indian cricket legends Yuvraj Singh and Harmanpreet Kaur received a major honour on December 11. The Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) unveiled stadium stands named after them at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.

The ceremony took place just before the start of the second T20I between India and South Africa.

Harmanpreet Kaur inaugurates her stand name

Last month, Harmanpreet Kaur made history when she became the first Indian women’s captain to lift an ICC World Cup trophy.

Under her leadership, India won the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup after beating South Africa in a one-sided final.

The PCA honoured Harmanpreet Kaur with her own stand at the stadium, recognising her World Cup triumph and her constant service to Punjab cricket.

The association also presented cash rewards to Harmanpreet and fellow Punjab cricketer Amanjot Kaur during the event.

Yuvraj Singh’s legacy honoured

On the other hand, Yuvraj Singh, widely regarded as one of the greatest all-rounders India has produced, was also honoured.

The PCA stand dedicated to him is a tribute to his unforgettable achievements and the pride he brought to Punjab and India. Fans at the stadium gave him a heartfelt ovation during the ceremony.

Yuvraj, with his legendary clutch mentality, was a key architect of India’s historic wins in the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup and the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup.

His six sixes in an over, match-winning innings under pressure, as well as his fight-back from cancer, has made him a legendary hero in the country.

Now, the Mullanpur Stadium has immortalised the legacies of Harmanpreet Kaur and Yuvraj Singh in the most honourable way possible.
