BCCI announced the suspension of IPL 2025 for a week at 2:47 PM on May 9 after the escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan. Now, following those footsteps, the PCB has also postponed their Pakistan Super League.
Uncertainty Surrounds Cricket In Pakistan
There are eight matches left in the 10th edition of the league, with four of those being group stage games. Initially, there were speculations that the remainder of PSL 2025 will be held in UAE. However, according to Cricbuzz, PCB failed to reach an agreement with Emirates Cricket Board and that has forced the officials to postpone the league indefinitely.
"The decision to postpone has been taken pursuant to advice received from the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif," the PCB said in a statement.
PCB has not clarified whether the remainder of the tournament will be held in Pakistan or outside the country. However, finding a window in the international calendar would be an issue for a league that already had dearth of quality overseas players due to its schedule clashing with IPL.
The Indian Premier League, on the other hand, might resume after a week. If the situation improves in India, it could be held in its birth country while it could also be held outside India. There are options like UAE and South Africa, and now ECB has also made an offer to host the league.
