The ongoing political tensions between India and Pakistan have had a vast effect on the cricketing calendar, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently suspending the Indian Premier League (IPL) for a week. In another significant development, the Women’s edition of the Bengal Pro T20 League has also been postponed from its original start date of May 16.

Bengal Pro T20 League Put on Hold

Organized by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) for the first time last year, the women’s tournament was set for its second edition and was going to take place before the men's competition which was also scheduled to commence from June 4th, immediately following the conclusion of the IPL 2025.

The postponement is a setback, but it is necessary for ensuring safety of players and fans during these tense times. With the armed forces making the ultimate sacrifice, it is only right that we prioritize the nation over sport and entertainment at this moment.

The CAB and Bengal Pro T20 League posted a Press Release in their social-media handles on Friday, May 9, acknowledging the postponement and announced that a revised schedule will be shared in due course.

Despite a slight delay in the tournament, Bengal cricket remains committed to ensuring the tournament's successful execution at a later date. And this is not the only state league that has been suspended after IPL. Cricket as a whole takes a halt as the entire country stands in full solidarity with the nation, wholeheartedly supporting the government and saluting the unmatched courage of our armed forces.
