November 28 had some big developments in the cricketing world, as important calls were taken on key decisions, squad announcements and leadership scrutiny, while strategic partnerships made headlines as teams and boards gear up for crucial upcoming tournaments.

Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing stories that emerged on Friday, November 28.

BCCI likely to scrutinise Gambhir, Agarkar after South Africa debacle

The BCCI is reportedly unhappy with head coach Gautam Gambhir’s comments praising the Eden Gardens pitch after India’s loss to South Africa but is not planning immediate action. However, his job could be reviewed if India performs poorly in the 2026 T20 World Cup.

At the same time, chief selector Ajit Agarkar is under scrutiny after India’s 0–2 home Test series whitewash. Critics have questioned his limited presence at domestic matches, though the BCCI defended him, saying selectors track performances digitally and will soon review the team’s performance.

Pat Cummins out of the 2nd Ashes Test

Australian captain Pat Cummins has been ruled out of the second Ashes Test against England at the Gabba as the Aussies named an unchanged squad, giving him extra time to recover from a lumbar back injury.

Steve Smith will continue to captain the side, while Usman Khawaja has been included despite recent back spasms. Josh Hazlewood hasn’t been included either due to a hamstring injury. Mitchell Starc, along with Scott Boland and Nathan Lyon, will lead the bowling attack.

After RCB, RR reportedly up for sale

Rajasthan Royals reportedly have joined RCB in exploring a potential sale ahead of the 2026 IPL season, as claimed by Harsh Goenka. Franchise valuations are currently at an all-time high, so existing owners can cash in on their investments.

Reports also suggest RR could move home games from Jaipur to Pune due to issues with the Rajasthan Cricket Association. Meanwhile, Diageo has officially begun the process of selling RCB, with several high-profile Indian business leaders showing interest.

BCCI unveil squad for U19 Asia Cup

The BCCI has announced India’s squad for the upcoming U19 Asia Cup, with Ayush Mhatre named captain and Vihaan Malhotra as vice-captain. Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been included after impressive recent performances but will not hold a leadership role.

The squad also features key players like Abhigyan Kundu and Henil Patel. India are placed in Group A with Pakistan and will face their arch-rivals on December 14, alongside matches on December 12 and 16.

PCB partners with Italy ahead of T20 World Cup

The Pakistan Cricket Board and the Italian Cricket Federation have signed a historic partnership to develop cricket in Italy following Italy’s qualification for the T20 World Cup 2026. The agreement focuses on sharing coaching expertise, joint training camps, matches, facility development, and youth programmes.

PCB COO Sumair Ahmad Syed called the move a step toward strengthening global cricket and cultural ties, and FCRI President Maria Lorena Haz Paz welcomed the collaboration as key to raising Italy’s cricketing standards.
