Shinwari Excelled In ODIs; Failed To Live Upto His Billing In ODIs And Tests
The cricketer made his debut across formats against Sri Lanka. He made his debut as a 19-year-old in T20Is in 2013 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, while his maiden ODI came two years later in 2017. The cricketer only played a solitary Test in Rawalpindi during Sri Lanka's tour of Pakistan in 2019.
His performances were not upto the mark in the shortest format and Test cricket but he excelled in ODIs. In just 17 ODIs, the left-arm pacer picked 34 wickets but was left out of the Pakistan squad after the 2019 series against Sri Lanka.
Shinwari Fell Out Of favour After 2019 Series Against Sri Lanka
He could not make his comeback in the national side thereafter but took part in PSL and Lanka Premier League til the 2021-22 season. In the six seasons of the Pakistan Super League, Shinwari played for Karachi Kings in four editions and has 42 wickets in 39 matches.
However, the dip in form put him down the pecking order in Pakistan cricket after COVID-19, and he played his last first-class game in 2021. The final List A game came in 2023, while he continued to play domestic T20 cricket till 2025.
Now, the retirement has come on the eve of the 2025 edition of the Asia Cup. He was part of the 2018 Asia Cup squad of Pakistan as well and went wicketless in the tournament against India and Afghanistan after picking three wickets against Hong Kong. The retirement has now come at the age of 31 years old, which is the end of another career that promised quite a lot at the start.
