In a heartwarming gesture, Sanju Samson, the Indian wicketkeeper batter, has donated his full salary of ₹26.8 lakhs from the Kerala Cricket League to his teammates and coaches in the league. The cricketer was the most expensive player in the KCL auction, where Kochi Blue Tigers spent more than half of their auction purse of 50 Lakhs on him.

Kochi Blue Tigers were dominant throughout the tournament and lost only two matches. They won the final by a massive margin of 75 runs as well, and the victory came under the leadership of Sanju Samson's older brother, Saly.

Sanju Samson Dominated KCL With His Consistent Power-Show

The most attractive star of the tournament, Sanju Samson, also played a big part in Kochi's dominance during KCL season 2. In the five innings he batted, the superstar scored 368 runs at a strike-rate of 186.80 and an average of 73.60. He got consecutive scores of 50-plus to his name, which included a century as well. These exploits helped the Kochi Blue Tigers chase down some massive scores in the group stage and helped them dominate other teams.

Thus, Sanju Samson, despite playing a limited part in the tournament, made a significant impact and was the most influential figure in the league. Now, this gesture of donating the entire money to his teammates and coaches shows how deeply Sanju Samson cares about his KCL team and the development of the players from Kerala.

In the last decade or so, Sanju Samson is the only player from Kerala who has played for India. During the KCL, he was one of the vocal admirers of the idea of the league and the kind of talent it is dishing out from the state. The cricketer is now all set to play for India in the Asia Cup 2025 and would be looking to continue his good form at the international level too.
