Ahead of the Asia Cup, Pakistan received a massive boost as they registered a thrilling victory in the tri-series against Afghanistan and the UAE. Facing Afghanistan in the final clash, they clinched a dominating 75-run victory.

Agha Reflects On The Series Win
Despite battling with their form in the past few years, in the recently ended tri-series against Afghanistan and the UAE, Pakistan flipped the script. Showcasing dominance in the entire series, they faced Afghanistan in the final match and registered a 75-run victory. Apart from their batting performance, bowlers did the magic, bundling Rashid Khan and Co. in just 66 runs.
A thrilling win just before the Asia Cup 2025 became a massive boost for the side. During the post-match presentation, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha praised the performance but emphasized that their focus remained firmly on Asia Cup preparations rather than just the series victory.
“This series was tough for us here in Sharjah, but our focus was always on preparing for the Asia Cup. Of course, we wanted to win, but the bigger goal was preparation,” the Pakistan skipper said.
Pakistan Sets Sights On Asia Cup Glory
Recovering from all previous setbacks with a fresh squad, the Men in Green have bounced back in the shortest format. In the last 13 T20I games, Pakistan secured 10 victories. As the Asia Cup 2025 will be played in the T20I format, Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha is confident the team is well-prepared for the challenges ahead.
“As a team, we’ve been building well since the Bangladesh series. We’re in good shape, and I believe we’re fully ready for the Asia Cup,” Agha said.
As the Asia Cup 2025 is commencing on September 9, Pakistan has some positive takeaways from the series. The batters have found their form, while Mohammad Nawaz impressed with the ball, including a brilliant 5-wicket haul in the final series clash. On September 12, Pakistan will face Oman in their inaugural match to chase their third Asia Cup title.
