India’s ODI captain, Rohit Sharma, never shies away from expressing his emotions off the field, and the cricketer has a unique style of presenting things to the audience. In the last year, Rohit has had a topsy-turvy international career, with him retiring from the Test format after a poor run of form in the New Zealand and Australia series.
During the Australian tour last year, Rohit endured a poor run Down Under, as the then Test captain faced scrutiny for his dismal batting performance.
Rohit takes dig at former cricketers
In three matches, he only scored 31 runs, at an average of 6.20. Eventually, he dropped himself from the final Test match of the tour and subsequently announced his retirement. During the tour, several former Indian cricketers slammed Rohit for his batting against Australia, and they criticised him for not adapting according to the conditions.
Now, in a video that has gone viral, Rohit was seen taking a dig at commentators who mocked him for his performances. The video showcases Rohit mimicking the commentators and how they sit in AC rooms and advise players from their comfort area.
"Aise khelna tha, aise kyu khela," Rohit's words in the video.
When Rohit reportedly filed complaint against Gavaskar
After the Australian tour, Rohit played in the Ranji Trophy and the batter failed to deliver the goods as he perished while playing aggressive shots. This reportedly didn't go well with Sunil Gavaskar, who criticised the Indian batter for his batting approach.
As per reports, this infuriated Rohit, who filed an official complaint against Gavaskar, and felt the comments unfairly targeted his commitment and integrity as a player.
Apparently, another former Indian cricketer, Irfan Pathan, was Rohit’s biggest critic during the Australian tour, and the former all-rounder openly stated that the Mumbaikar didn’t deserve to be in the Test team, and he was only in the squad because of his captaincy.
