Pakistan Women’s team held their New Zealand counterparts within 10 runs of their total in the second T20I of their three-match series. Taking the field at Dunedin’s University Oval on December 5, the ‘Women in Green’ secured their second successive win at the venue to seal the series with a game to spare.

In doing so, Nida Dar’s Pakistan unit became the first Asian nation to create a unique history, thus pipping out the likes of fellow continental heavyweights India and Sri Lanka.

Under Nida Dar, the Pakistan Women’s team defeated hosts New Zealand by seven wickets in the first T20I of their three-match series in Dunedin. The ‘Women in Green’ also trounced the White Ferns in the subsequent game to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

Registering a rare triumph ‘Down Under’, Nida Dar’s Pakistan troops became the first Asian women’s team in history to secure a T20I series win in New Zealand.

Moreover, Pakistan’s twin success in Dunedin also made them the only Asian women’s team to secure a T20I win on New Zealand shores. None of the fellow Asian giants, including powerhouse Sri Lanka and reigning Asia Cup winners India managed to register a single away T20I win against New Zealand.

Remarkably, Pakistan’s recent success also marks their first-ever T20I series win away from home since 2018.

The high-flying ‘Women in Green’ unit will now go up against hosts New Zealand in the third T20I at Queenstown’s John Davies Oval on December 9. The much-awaited contest will be followed by a three-match ODI rubber between the two sides from December 12 onward.
