Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood has joined the Leicestershire Cricket Club for the 2025 English County season. The cricketer is eligible to play all three formats, and is expected to join the club ahead of Leicestershire Foxes’ opening match of the Vitality Blast T20 2025 season in late-May.
Masood is currently representing the Karachi Region Whites team in the 2025 National T20 Cup in Pakistan. The 35-year-old is yet to play a single international match since Pakistan’s home Test series against West Indies a couple of months ago.
Shan Masood joins Leicestershire for fresh County stint
Shan Masood, who has previously played for County teams like Yorkshire and Derbyshire, has penned a new deal with the Leicestershire Cricket Club for the 2025 English County season. He is due to arrive at the Uptonsteel County Ground shortly after the conclusion of PSL 2025 in late-May to join Leicestershire Foxes for the 2025 T20 Blast season.
He is also eligible to play 2025 Metro Bank One-Day Cup and 2025 County Championship matches for the Leicestershire this year.
Shan Masood holds an experience of 185 first-class matches, including 42 Tests for Pakistan. Having made his debut in October 2007, the elegant left-handed batter has so far racked up nearly 12,000 runs in the format at an average of 39.33. Notably, his career-best first-class score occurred in a County Championship game when he belted 239 runs against Sussex in 2022.
At the moment, he is plying his trade for the Karachi Region Whites in the 2025 National T20 Cup. Soon after the conclusion of the tournament, he will captain the Karachi Kings franchise in the PSL 2025 season.
