As Pakistan prepares to host Bangladesh for a three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series from May 28 to June 1, 2025, Interior Ministry sources have confirmed the deployment of the Pakistan Army alongside civil armed forces to ensure comprehensive security throughout the event.

This move comes amid heightened concerns over safety during major international sporting events, reflecting the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order and safeguarding players, officials, and spectators.

Heightened Security Measures For Geopolitical Tensions

The series, now shortened from an originally planned five matches to three, will be held entirely at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revised the schedule following consultations with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), which raised security concerns after recent regional tensions.

Bangladesh will arrive in Lahore on May 25 and begin training on May 26. The matches are scheduled for May 28, 30, and June 1, starting at 8:00 PM IST.

Pakistan Army Joins Forces to Safeguard International T20I Series

The decision to deploy military personnel, as per SAMAA TV, alongside civil forces aims to provide a robust security framework, addressing risks associated with high-profile international matches.

The presence of the army will complement police and paramilitary units already tasked with crowd control, traffic management, and venue security. This layered security approach is designed to deter threats and ensure a smooth, incident-free series.

Pakistan’s Interior Ministry emphasised that the deployment underscores the government’s dedication to protecting international sporting events amid geopolitical uncertainties. The move also reassures players and officials, who had expressed concerns following the recent India-Pakistan ceasefire and regional instability.
