On Monday, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that Pakistan will host Sri Lanka for a three-match ODI series from 11 to 15 November at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. These one-day internationals will take place right before the T20I tri-series begins.

Just a day earlier, PCB confirmed that Pakistan will stage its first-ever T20I tri-series from 17 to 29 November, featuring Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan. This tournament is designed to help the three sides prepare for next year’s Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

This will be Sri Lanka’s first ODI series in Pakistan since 2019. On that tour, Pakistan won the series 2-0, with the opening match in Karachi abandoned due to rain. Sri Lanka also played in Pakistan more recently in 2023 during the Asia Cup, where they faced Afghanistan in Lahore.

Notably, the ODI series against Sri Lanka comes at a time when Pakistan have one of its busiest home schedules in recent years. Before facing Sri Lanka, Pakistan will host South Africa for two ICC World Test Championship matches between 12 and 24 October in Lahore and Rawalpindi. This will be followed by three T20Is against South Africa from 28 October to 1 November, with matches in Rawalpindi and Lahore.

After that, Pakistan and South Africa will play three ODIs in Faisalabad from 4 to 8 November, marking the return of international one-day cricket to the Iqbal Stadium after 17 years.

With the addition of Sri Lanka’s three-match ODI series and the historic T20I tri-series starting on 17 November, Pakistan’s home season will run non-stop from 12 October to 29 November.
