Indian cricketer, Virat Kohli, and legendary Footballer, Sunil Chhetri, are good friends and the duo share a great camaraderie. The two athletes are known as pioneers of fitness in Indian culture, and youngsters look up to them as role models. Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) re-introduced fitness test for all its players, including Kohli.
Chhetri reveals Kohli indeed had fitness test in London
However, unlike other Indian cricketers, Kohli had his fitness tests done in England, since he has moved with his family. In a recent interview, Chhetri, who is in close contact with the Indian cricketer, revealed that Kohli indeed had his tests in London, and he revealed his results to him.
"A few days back, Kohli was sending me his scores of one of the tests he was doing. It is so addictive, and it is so good to know these kinds of people. On your bad days when you feel a bit lethargic, you see them and think, ‘let’s go’. When you are at the top, everyone wants to be a Virat Kohli or Ronaldo, and for these two to keep their place is unbelievable," said Chhetri while speaking to Desi Premier League Podcast.
Did Kohli breach BCCI's strict policy?
Kohli sent Chhetri his fitness test results, but as per the BCCI policy, cricketers are not allowed to reveal their fitness test scores. It is always kept confidential by the board. Even the governing body, the BCCI, does not disclose the scores of any player, and in that regard, Kohli has indeed breached the policy.
As per BCCI's Code of Conduct, any player who reveals their fitness test score is either penalised, or worse, gets banned from the team.
When BCCI slammed Kohli for revealing his Yo-Yo test score
In 2023, Kohli had made his Yo-Yo test score public, and he had to face BCCI’s wrath. According to the policy, no player is allowed to share the score with anyone, and the Indian great breached it. He posted his score online and was urged to take down the post.
