Pakistan batter Mohammad Haris apparently traveled to Bangladesh without NOC approval for BPL participation, as Chattogram Challengers disallowed him to take the field.

In a fresh drama coming from Pakistan cricket, chaos grappled Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) when Pakistani opening batter and wicket-keeper Mohammad Haris arrived unannounced to feature in the league as a representative of Chattogram Challengers.

As per reports coming from the neighboring country, Haris didn’t carry an NOC from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which allows him to be a part of a franchise T20 league.

PCB orders its players to feature in a maximum of two T20 leagues in a single calendar year. In Haris’ case, the batter had already played in the Global T20 Canada tournament in July 2023 and the Lanka Premier League in the following month.

Thus, he wasn’t granted an NOC but traveled to Bangladesh regardless. Meanwhile, BPL authorities caught wind of it, and accordingly, the Chattogram Challengers barred Haris from taking the field against Khulna Tigers.

In the latest updates shared by Mohammad Haris himself, he is set to return to Pakistan after a big fiasco unfolded in Dhaka. He posted a story of his packed bags on his Instagram handle, thus hinting at embarking on a journey back home. Moreover, his choice of emojis reflected his disappointment quite clearly.

That being said, besides Haris, Saim Ayub, Zaman Khan, Fakhar Zaman, and Iftikhar Ahmed were also denied NOCs as their yearly quota of franchise league participation has ceased.

However, in an interesting twist in the tale, Azam Khan has received a permit to feature in ILT20 despite having participated in GT20 Canada and Caribbean Premier League since July 2023.

Needless to say, the dual standard of PCB has created a sense of confusion and chaos amongst the players. The board is currently under turmoil after Zaka Ashraf announced his sudden resignation.

Overall, the entire situation is unfortunate, and PCB certainly needs to gather itself together to avoid such embarrassing instances in the future.
