Several Pakistan cricketers are set to receive a massive pay hike through their central contract with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi and current team captain Babar Azam, all in the top bracket of contracts, are in line to earn around PKR 4.5 million (USD 15,900 approx) monthly as a retainer.

PCB set to increase pay with new contracts

Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi might well earn as much as PKR 4.5 million (USD 15,900 approx) a month as a retainer, which is four times the amount that was offered to the top category of Pakistan players last year.

Meanwhile, the Category B players will receive around PKR 3 million (USD 10,600 approx), and the players in the subsequent two categories might earn between PKR 0.75-1.5 million (USD 2650-5300 approx) as their retainer values.

Notably, several Pakistan cricketers, including category A stars like Babar Azam, Rizwan and Afridi, are already minting big bucks through their participation in T20 leagues from across the world.

The proposed increment will immensely help Pakistan cricketers, considering they are the only batch of players in the world not allowed to participate in the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL) by political rivals India.

Moreover, the policies around Pakistan players’ participation in other leagues also change whenever a new administration takes over.

Increased retainers will soon be presented to players, and the final discussions will take place in the coming days.
