The cricketing buzz just got louder as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are in serious talks to add an extra white-ball series beyond the Future Tour Programme (FTP). Fans from both nations could be in for more thrilling battles with discussions underway to finalize a three-match ODI and T20I series.

BCB President Drops The Big Reveal

BCB President Faruque Ahmed spilled the beans during his visit to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final between New Zealand and South Africa at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. Invited by PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, Ahmed confirmed that both boards are actively working on making this series a reality.

Ahmed, speaking to the media in Lahore, confirmed that discussions have progressed beyond just a casual chat. He thanked Naqvi for the warm invitation and acknowledged that both cricket boards are keen to make this series happen.

“There has been a discussion between the two boards to hold a white-ball series outside the FTP. We are currently in talks to finalize the schedule,” said Ahmed, as quoted by cricketpakistan.compk.

While nothing is set in stone yet, this strong indication from the BCB boss means fans can start dreaming about another high-intensity PAK vs BAN showdown.

PCB’s Response To The Talks

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi also confirmed that the two boards have been working on this plan for weeks.

“I would like to welcome Faruque Ahmed to Pakistan on the occasion of the semi-final in Lahore,” said Naqvi. “I thank him and the BCB for their assistance in hosting the Champions Trophy. The two boards have been discussing this series for the past few weeks, and we expect to make progress soon.”

Naqvi’s statement makes it clear that PCB is fully on board and it’s just a matter of ironing out the logistics.

What This Series Means For Both Teams?

Adding another PAK vs BAN series in the mix is a win-win for both teams.

For Bangladesh, it’s a golden opportunity to test their depth in white-ball cricket against a quality opposition. Their young guns will get more international exposure, especially in Pakistan’s conditions.

For Pakistan, an extra home series is great news for fans, especially after a disappointing Champions Trophy 2025 campaign. More cricket at home means another chance for their T20 and ODI squad to fine-tune their combinations.

With Bangladesh’s tour of Pakistan already confirmed for May, this additional series would be a bonus for cricket fans.
