Pakistan cricket is no stranger to bold statements but former interim head coach Mohsin Khan just dropped a bombshell. In a fiery TV appearance, he didn’t just compare Babar Azam to Virat Kohli, he outright dismissed the Indian superstar as zero in comparison.

If that wasn’t enough, he went on a scathing rant about the sorry state of Pakistan cricket, blaming it on poor planning, favouritism, and lack of accountability.

Kohli is Zero Compared to Babar Says Mohsin Khan

When asked about Babar Azam’s recent struggles and how he stacks up against Virat Kohli, Mohsin didn’t hold back.

“Let me be clear: Virat Kohli is nothing when compared to Babar Azam; he is zero,” Mohsin declared.

A statement like that was bound to raise eyebrows. Virat Kohli, with his mountain of records, World Cup wins, and match-winning performances, has been a benchmark in modern cricket. But Mohsin wasn’t just making a case for Babar’s talent, he was also using the moment to slam Pakistan cricket’s decline.

Pakistan Cricket Is In Ruins According to Mohsin

Mohsin didn’t stop at Kohli. He painted a grim picture of Pakistan cricket and lambasted the system for being in shambles.

“The real problem is Pakistan cricket, which is completely ruined. There is no planning, proper strategy, merit, or accountability at all,” he added.

The former coach didn’t mince words. He blamed personal interests and favouritism for Pakistan’s repeated failures in major tournaments, pointing to their early exits and lackluster performances.

“In previous tournaments as well, we failed to qualify for the next round. It is shameful how our cricket has come downhill just because of personal benefits and personal motives.”


Babar’s Form Under the Scanner

While Mohsin fiercely backed Babar Azam, the former Pakistan captain’s numbers tell a different story. He hasn’t scored a century since his 151-run knock against Nepal in August 2023. His returns in the ongoing Champions Trophy have been far from convincing.

The decision to push Babar up the order alongside Fakhar Zaman in ODIs hasn’t worked wonders either. Despite the support from former players, the pressure is mounting. Pakistan’s fans demand runs, not just praise from ex-cricketers.

Mohsin’s Final Blow

Mohsin Khan, who previously served as Pakistan’s chief selector and interim coach, reminded everyone of his record and how he selected teams purely on merit.

“When I was the chief selector, by the grace of Almighty Allah, I used to select the best possible team. I sincerely worked for the Pakistan Cricket Board, and my results as head coach depict my hard work. My goal was to take Pakistan cricket forward.”

With Pakistan cricket in a rough patch and Babar struggling to silence critics, Mohsin’s comments are bound to add fuel to the fire. But calling Kohli zero compared to Babar? That’s the kind of statement that will be debated for a long time.
