Shan Masood will stay as Pakistan's captain, as the PCB confirmed a potent 15-man squad for their upcoming first Test of the three-match series against England. Saud Shakeel will work as Masood's deputy, while Shaheen Afridi, Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan -- three of their biggest stars -- have all been picked.

Among notable players, veteran spinner Noman Ali has been recalled. He has replaced Khurram Shahzad, who has made himself unavailable due to an injury.

Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Ali Dropped From Pakistan Squad

Meanwhile, the PCB dropped Kamran Ghulam and Mohammad Ali, who were among the squad members in Pakistan's recently concluded Bangladesh Tests. The board clarified that they are still in the mix, but due to limited squad-filling options, they had to be benched.

"With a busy domestic and international cricket schedule, it makes sense to give our players some much-needed rest ahead of the Test series against England. We are very much looking forward to the series against England here in Pakistan and cannot wait for it to begin. We are excited about playing in front of our wonderful supporters,” Jason Gillespie, Pakistan's Test head coach, said in a statement.

Apart from Shaheen, Pakistan picked Naseem Shah, Mir Hamza, and Aamir Jamal among fast bowling options. Talking about spinners, Abrar Ahmed and Noman are the options, with Salman Ali Agha and Saim Ayub as part-time options. Sarfaraz Ahmed, meanwhile, has been picked as Rizwan's back-up wicket-keeping option.
