Babar Azam And Shan Masood To Attend PCB's Newly Launched 'Connection Camp'

The past months have not been ideal for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and its cricket team. From a futuristic perspective, the PCB recently announced that it is set to undertake a wholesale review of all aspects of international and domestic cricket to restore Pakistan cricket's pride and excellence.

This assessment procedure will begin with a meeting called a "connection camp" in Lahore on September 23. The 'connection camp' meeting will witness the presence of key figures in Pakistan cricket. Both the head coaches, Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie, will be there, along with the chairman, Mohsin Naqvi. Adding to the significance of the event, Pakistan's international captains, Shan Masood and Babar Azam, will also be attending the camp.

The main idea behind organizing this game is to rebrand the kind of cricket Pakistan plays down to the grassroots levels. This decision, made with the potential for great success, aims to reverse Pakistan's recent decline in international performances.

The idea was interestingly given by the PCB chairman himself, who will play a pivotal role in overseeing and implementing this strategy. It is not understood to be designed around specific, short-term concerns such as any proposed changes to the men's national captaincy in either format, or the squad selection for any upcoming series. Its scale, instead, is a rather more ambitious review.

Babar-Shan likely to continue leading Pakistan

A PCB source however told PTI that recent media speculations about Shan Masood and Babar's sacking is nothing more than kite flying.

"There has been no discussion on changing the captains as the PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has left it up to the two coaches and selectors to decide on the captaincy. And Kirsten and Gillespie are very clear that Shan and Babar both need to be given a proper run before judging their leadership abilities,” the source said.

He said that both coaches wanted continuity in captaincy and have conveyed this to the board very clearly.
