The Bangladesh cricket team scripted one of its most historic wins back in December 2018 during a home Test match against West Indies. Playing at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Shakib Al Hasan and co. secured a thumping win by an innings and 184 runs to seal their two-match series by a 2-0 margin.

Notably, the aforementioned margin also marked Bangladesh’s first ever Test win by an innings, and also coincided with their first-ever series win over West Indies at home and the first overall against the Men from Caribbean since July 2009 regardless of the venue.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who was 21 at the time, catalyzed Bangladesh’s innings win over the visiting West Indies team by picking up 12 wickets in the match. Celebrating Hasan’s decorated all-round career, here is a look back at his stupendous match-winning haul from December 2018.

With a 1-0 lead in the pocket, Bangladesh charted 508 runs in the first innings of the second Test match from December 2018 at Mirpur. Mahmudullah top-scored with 136, while Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan listed swift half-centuries.

In response, the entire West Indies line-up was skittled out for just 111 to concede a 397-run lead to the hosts. Mehidy Hasan Miraz picked up seven wickets in the innings at an expense of just 58 runs. His spell included the prized-scalps of Roston Chase, Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer.

He snared another five-fer in the second West Indies innings by claiming figures of 5-59 from 20 overs. Overall, Mehidy Hasan bagged a match-haul of 12-117, which remains his best-ever.

Fittingly, he was declared the ‘Player of the Match’ as Bangladesh sealed the Test by an innings and 184 runs and bagged the two-match series by a 2-0 margin.
