Daryl Mitchell has been in sparkling form in the last year or so and has notched up runs across formats for New Zealand. His consistency has been the talking point in the cricketing circles and now again on the tour of Pakistan, Mitchell is showing all his talent in the ODI format.

New Zealand are touring Pakistan without their big starts and Daryl Mitchell has shown that he has the ability to take the pressure in the absence of stars and take the fight to the opposition. In the first ODI, he smashed 113 off 115 balls and in the second ODI now, he has hammeded a 102-ball century to put his team in a pole position against a strong Pakistani bowling attack.

However, his century in the first game went in vain as Pakistan chased down a 289-run target with five wickets in hand. Here again, New Zealand are in a good position while batting first, and at the time of writing, they are 249-2 at the end of 41 overs. NZ would be hoping to post a total in excess of 300 at this time as the pitch looks a belter and Pakistan would be backing themselves to chase down a total.

Talking about this innings from Mitchell again, he came out to bat at number 3 with New Zealand one down on 33 in the 6th over. It was Haris Rauf who got the first wicket and then the pacer backed it up with another wicket of Bowes as New Zealand were two down on 119 at the end of 19th over. Mitchell and Latham then got together and made sure that they didn’t lose any wickets in a hurry again and have built a solid century-plus stand.
