The young spinner Abrar Ahmed has reckoned that the Karachi pitch had nothing to offer for bowlers, but thinks they should have made good use of chances in the 1st Test against New Zealand.

Batting first, Pakistan posted a total of 438 on the board, with contributions from Babar Azam (161), Agha Salman (103) and Sarfaraz Ahmed (86). Tim Southee was the pick of the bowlers for visitors with three scalps.

In reply, New Zealand stamped their authority on the hosts with their composed batting performances. The openers Tom Latham (113) and Devon Conway (92) set up the platform. Afterwards, Kane Williamson was sensational to slam a double hundred, which resulted in the Kiwi team ending their innings on 612, and taking a lead of 174 runs.

In a press conference after Day 4 of the 1st Test, Abrar was asked about lacklustre bowling performances from Pakistan. The spinner reckoned that he consulted with the video analyst about the pitch, and found out that his lengths were on point, but the pitch could not assist them.

Nevertheless, Abrar toiled hard to finish with figures of 5/205 in 67.5 overs, and was the best bowler for Pakistan.

"Whoever the spinner is, there has to be little assistance from the surface too. I discussed this with the video analyst and he said there was no help from the pitch whatsoever," Abrar Ahmed about performing on the Karachi pitch. "

Currently, Pakistan are at 77/2 after the end of Day 4. It will be interesting to see if Kiwi bowlers can create a turnaround to skittle Pakistan batters and register a thumping win.
