Williamson's 5th double-ton, Abrar's another fifer highlight dull day in Karachi

Pakistan failed to bring any answers for Kane Williamson and his water-tight technique as the former New Zealand captain remained unbeaten on 200 off 395 deliveries, before Tim Southee declared the innings on 612/9.

Williamson, who surpassed Brendon McCullum in scoring most Test double centuries for the Blackcaps, was well accompanied by Ish Sodhi, who scored his highest score in the longest format today.

The Kiwi run rate might have been questionable throughout the day, but what they did was not lose any wicket for more than 50 overs on Day 4 - which helped them command the game.

However, just after Sodhi registered his highest Test score; the number eight batter went being fancy and handed a dolly catch to mid-off.

That wicket opened a slight door for Pakistan as Abrar Ahmed bagged his second five-wicket haul. Meanwhile, Williamson completed his double century from the other end before the visitors declared on the stroke of Tea.

With a lead of 174 runs, New Zealand had to put pressure on Pakistan by scalping one or two early wickets - but to their response, both the home openers batted positively on not-so-testing Karachi pitch.

Imam-ul-Haq played more strokes, as he sometimes used his feet to disturb the bowlers' line and length. Abdullah Shafique kept tiring the Blackcaps with his dead bat strokes.

But to Shafique's hard luck, he handed a simple catch to mid-on off Michael Bracewell's bowling. Southee would have hoped his spin-bowling trio to crack a couple of more wickets after the first wicket, and Sodhi did so by finding Shan Masood plumb in the front of the stumps.

Still, this Test match is heading towards a draw; unless New Zealand pull a rabbit out of the hat to scalp eight remaining wickets in the first half of the last day.
