It was plain sailing for Perth Scorchers in the 20th match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2022-23 as they won versus Melbourne Stars by six wickets.
Turner plays captain's knock
Ashton Turner carried on his good form from the last game as his half-century propelled Perth to an easy win which at one point seemed tough.
Chasing 136 runs, Turner and Co. played at the run-rate of around six and a half till the 12th over, however, their skipper made the job done with his quick-fire 26-ball 53 in the 18th over.
Perth's pacers obliterate Melbourne
In what was a one-way street till the 14th over of the first innings, Perth's pace troika of Jhye Richardson, Jason Behrendorff and Andrew Tye kept their team in the saddle.
However, Hilton Cartwright and Trent Boult's 49-run partnership for the ninth wicket led to a quick rally as in the final six overs, the Stars gathered enough runs to put a respectable total on the board, ending at 135/10.
Brief scores:
Melbourne Stars - 135/10 (20)
Hilton Cartwright 36 (32), Joe Clarke 33 (30); Jhye Richardson 4-25 (4), Jason Behrendorff 2-22 (4)
