Pakistan's experienced fast bowler Shaheen Afridi is on the brink of breaking Waqar Younis' huge record on the ongoing Australian tour. Led by Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan are currently facing Australia in a three-match ODI series. After the conclusion of the ODIs, the Men in Green will take on the Aussies in three T20Is between November 14 and 18. 

Shaheen Afridi On The Verge Of Surpassing Waqar Younis

Meanwhile, ace Pakistani speedster Shaheen Afridi has a golden opportunity to surpass legendary former pacer Waqar Younis in an elite list. Shaheen Afridi currently has 48 wickets against Australia in international cricket. So, if he bags twelve more wickets, he will go past Waqar's tally of 59 wickets on the list. 

Shaheen Afridi also has as many five-wicket hauls as Waqar Younis against Australia across formats. Both players have one fifer against the Aussies, and if Shaheen scalps five wickets in an innings on the current tour, he will overtake Waqar on the list. 

Shaheen's Impressive All-Round Performance In 1st ODI vs Australia

Shaheen Afridi had a great start to the ODI series against Australia, registering impressive figures with bat and ball. Coming at number eight, Shaheen struck three fours and a humongous six for his quick-fire cameo of 24 runs before Starc castled him. He also starred with the ball for Pakistan, getting prized wickets of Matthew Short and Josh Inglis in the game. 

However, despite his all-round exploits and Haris Rauf's exceptional bowling performance, Australia were on the brink of a thrilling win, courtesy of Pat Cummins' commendable rescue act. At the time of writing, the hosts were 196 for eight, with Cummins and Starc unbeaten in the middle.
