Former RCB owner and businessman Vijay Mallya wished fans on the occasion of ‘Makara Sankranti’ on social media. However, netizens trolled him brutally by taking stingy digs at his infamous money scandal.
Once a high-flying businessman owning ventures across industries like airlines, IPL franchise RCB, F1 teams, and liquor brands, Vijay Mallya’s empire collapsed under the weight of financial mismanagement.
The Airline, a business that started in 2005, went into bankruptcy and had liabilities of more than $1 billion. Mallya left India in 2016 with mounting financial scandals and has been involved in numerous legal cases. A non-bailable warrant was issued against him in July 2024 in an INR 180 crore loan default case related to Indian Overseas Bank.
Vijay Mallya brutally attacked over social media post
Amid this, the former RCB owner took to social media to wish Indian fans on the festival of ‘Makara Sankranti.’ However, the post sparked hilarity among users, continuing the trend of the fugitive businessman posting festive wishes only on public and bank holidays.
Users flooded the comments section with humorous observations, noting the uncanny pattern in Mallya’s social media activity.
This isn’t the first time Mallya has been called out for this pattern. His timeline is a chronological series of festive wishes, including Diwali, Eid, Ugadi, and Dussehra, and more often, coinciding with holidays.
RCB, meanwhile, has managed to move on from Vijay Mallya after he skipped the country. United Spirits Limited owns a substantial share of the IPL team while Prathmesh Mishra holds the position of chief commercial officer.
The IPL 2025 season is looking very promising for RCB with a well-balanced lineup led by Virat Kohli. The captain, however, is yet to be announced since Faf du Plessis has left the team.
