India's star all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who recently had a stellar performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, has made headlines again, but this time for an off-field gesture. The 21-year-old cricketer visited the Tirupati Temple earlier this week and was seen climbing the temple stairs on his knees. 

Why Did Nitish Reddy Climb The Stairs On Knees? 

As soon as the video went viral, this act sparked curiosity among fans regarding this gesture. It was clear from his Instagram post that he decided to climb the stairs on his knees, and the reason was a mark of devotion and gratitude for his recent successes on the cricket field. The Andhra Pradesh cricketer has credited his achievements to divine blessings and wanted to express his thanks at the sacred site. The gesture reflects his humble and spiritual side.

After a memorable series in Australia, Reddy took to Instagram to share a post on Monday. 

“From setting alarms to watch Test matches in Australia to gaining a firsthand sense of the Australian shores, the last two months have been nothing short of an opportunity to grow, as a player and a person too. Not the way we wanted to end the series. We’ll be back, tougher and stronger."

Nitish Kumar Reddy's Stellar Form

It has definitely been a remarkable year for Nitish Reddy. Making his Test debut against Australia in November 2024, his standout moment came during the Boxing Day Test, where he scored a century that helped India to mount a fightback. Across the series, he made 298 runs, including one century, and took five crucial wickets.  

He will next be seen in Indian jersey in the upcoming five-match T20I series against England, starting on January 22 in Kolkata.
