In latest development, Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Committee has announced a 16-member squad to play the two-match Test series vs. New Zealand.

Oshada Fernando makes comeback after one-year

Oshada Fernando is set to return to Sri Lanka’s Test squad for the series against New Zealand, marking his comeback since his last appearance in March 2023. His inclusion in the 16-member squad follows impressive performances for Sri Lanka 'A', where he scored 122 and 80 against South Africa 'A' earlier this month. At 33, Fernando steps in for Nishan Madushka, who was part of the team that toured England for the three-Test series.



The squad also sees the absence of Kasun Rajitha and Nisala Tharaka, with Sri Lanka choosing to retain 15 players from the England tour. Dhananjaya de Silva will maintain his role as captain, supported by experienced players such as Dimuth Karunaratne, Angelo Mathews, and Dinesh Chandimal. The lineup also includes promising talents like Pathum Nissanka, Kamindu Mendis, and Sadeera Samarawickrama.
