On Thursday, November 27, all five franchises gathered in New Delhi for the 2nd mega-auction in the history of the Women's Premier League. Before the start of the auction, the BCCI unveiled the dates for the fourth edition of WPL.
In an official announcement, the new season will take place from January 9 to February 5. Further, only two venues will host the fourth edition of the WPL. For the unversed, Navi Mumbai and Vadodara are the two hosts for WPL 4. Notably, the BCA stadium in Vadodra will host the opening game on January 9, whereas DY Patil Stadium will host the final in Navi Mumbai.
"The #TATAWPL 2026 will be held from 9th January to 5th February in Navi Mumbai and Vadodara. The DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai will host the opener. The BCA Stadium in Vadodara will host the final," read WPL's official statement.
New Window for WPL 2026
Usually the WPL takes place in February and March window, but for the next season, WPL will take place in January because of Men's T20 World Cup 2026. Notably, the prestigious T20 event will take place in India from February, because of which the WPL has been preponed by a month.
Further, only two venues have been selected for WPL 2026 because rest of the major venues across the nations will be booked because of T20 World Cup 2026. Shedding light on the ongoing WPL auction, several dignitaries such as Harmanpreet Kaur too graced the event and were highlight when the announcement regarding official dates were revealed.
So far, Mumbai Indians are the most successful team with two titles, followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru with a solitary title to their name.
