Narendra Modi Stadium to host IPL final [Source: @mufaddal_vohra/x.com]
In the latest development, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 finale will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium, instead of Eden Gardens, Kolkata. This has been done due to the adverse weather conditions in Kolkata on the day of the grand finale. The decision was revealed via a press release by the IPL.
Also, there has been a change in the playoff venues. Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator will now be hosted by the Mullanpur Stadium, in New Chandigarh and the Qualifier 2 will also be hosted in Ahmedabad as the fans gear up for the business end of the IPL.
Dates and venues revealed for IPL playoffs
After 70 gruelling matches, the Qualifier 1 of the IPL, which features the top-2 teams of the league stage will take place at the Mullanpur Stadium on May 29, followed by the Eliminator on May 30 at the same venue.
The Qualifier 2, which takes place between loser of Qualifier 1 and winner of Eliminator will take place in Ahmedabad on June 1, followed by the grand finale on June 3.
As per the IPL press release, the new venues have been decided keeping in mind the weather conditions in Kolkata. As per the weather forecast, rain is predicted on June 3 and hence, this decision was taken.
RCB-SRH match shifted to Lucknow
RCB was set to take on SRH on Friday at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, due to unfavourable weather conditions in Bengaluru, the decision to shift the match was taken. RCB's last match got washed out at the same venue against KKR.
