Sai Sudharsan, the Gujarat Titans opener is the definition of consistency and this Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, he has taken his game to a different level which has not only helped his cause, but has helped GT qualify for the playoffs. The opener, alongside Shubman Gill has formed a dream partnership to frustrate the opposition bowlers.'

Sudharsan's dream IPL 2025 campaign

Throughout the season, Sudharsan has racked up runs for fun and so much so that after 12 matches played, the Tamil Nadu batter has 617 runs to his name, at an average of 617. The most runs ever recorded in a single IPL season was registered by RCB's Virat Kohli, who slammed 973 runs in the 2016 season.

Sudharsan slammed a century in the last match Vs DC and can now smell the improbable record which Kohli set in 2016. It is fair to say that Kohli's 973 run record is in danger and Sudharsan has the capability to achieve it and here's how.

How Sudharsan can break Kohli's 973 run record

61735771.4

As the table suggests, currently Sai Sudharsan has slammed 617 runs in IPL 2025 in just 12 matches and still has 2 league matches left to be played. Let us assume that GT finish in top-2 and then, Sudharsan will at-least play 4 more games, a possible 5 and here's how.

These matches include 2 league matches, a Qualifier 1 if GT finish top-2 and a potential final. However, if GT lose the Qualifier 1, they will get another chance to qualify for the finals by playing in Qualifier 2, which will make 5 matches from here on to break Kohli's record.

So, in 5 matches, Sudharsan needs 357 more runs to go past Kohli and on an average he needs 71.4 runs. Throughout the IPL 2025, the GT opener has shown remarkable consistency and if he plays 5 straight matches, there is a solid chance that Sudharsan could be the one to break Kohli's record of 973 IPL runs.
