IPL 2026 may still be on the horizon, but franchises are already deep in strategy mode, eyeing a blockbuster season ahead. Aiming for a power-packed season, the Lucknow Super Giants pulled off a masterstroke by signing one of the Australian legends.
Replacing Zaheer Khan, they appointed veteran Aussie all-rounder Tom Moody as their Global Director of cricket. On their social media handle, the franchise shared the news.
The Tom Moody era begins in LSG
Since the Lucknow Super Giants entered the IPL arena, their search for the maiden IPL trophy is still on. Even after some major changes, the fortune didn’t turn different in the last year. Ahead of stepping into the upcoming IPL season, they took a bold step, eyeing a dreamy season.
In the previous season, the Lucknow Super Giants roped in Zaheer Khan as their Global Director of Cricket, but parted ways in September 2025. Ahead of the next season, veteran Australian all-rounder Tom Moody replaced the Indian speedster in the role.
Along with LSG, the Aussie legend will look after even the other franchises of the T20 leagues worldwide for the Super Giants. Ahead of the upcoming season, the news of recruitment has become a massive boost for the season.
The Lucknow Super Giants confirmed the news on their social media handles, sparking excitement among fans. Sharing Moody’s picture, they wrote, “Experience. Vision. Leadership. Welcome aboard the Super Giants Universe, Tom Moody!”

Moody brings a wealth of wisdom to fuel the Super Giants’ goal
Over the years, Tom Moody has ruled the cricket with his excellence in both bat and ball, but his coaching career is nothing short of glorious. During the 2007 ICC World Cup, he guided Sri Lanka towards the final match. He has also worked with CPL and BBL. Among all his achievements, Tom Moody’s golden stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad stands out.
He masterminded their unforgettable 2016 IPL triumph and consistently led them to multiple playoff runs in the years that followed. Later on, he took the role of the Director of Cricket for SRH. As he is standing on the brink of a new beginning, LSG will have a massive boost with his arrival.
