In a latest development, Perth Scorchers have locked in Brody Couch to complete their squad for the upcoming BBL 15 season and strengthen their pace bowling unit. The 25-year-old quick bowler played for Melbourne Stars across three seasons, and from his 18 appearances, he managed to take 19 wickets, including a three-wicket haul against Hobart Hurricanes in BBL 11.

Brody Couch will be a 'tremendous addition' to the Perth Scorchers' squad with his experience in T20 cricket. He has taken 27 wickets from his 31 T20 matches at an economy rate of 8.76.

Brody Couch added to fill Morris' place

Perth Scorchers have been building a strong pace bowling unit with names like Jhye Richardson, David Payne, Mahli Beardman, and Matthew Kelly heading the unit, and it is now stronger with Brody Couch.

Finn Allen and Laurie Evans will be at the helm with the bat, with Ashton Turner and Josh Inglis also being prominent names to ramp up T20 cricket Down Under.

“Brody has been a tremendous addition to our men’s program since he moved to WA, both as a player and teammate, and we are delighted to be able to sign him for what is set to be an exciting campaign," Scorchers general manager Kade Harvey said in an official statement.

It is important to note that Brody was taken into consideration because of injured Lance Morris and now finds a place to strengthen the pace unit of the Scorchers.

“With the injury to Lance Morris, we felt it was important to bolster our fast-bowling stocks, and we are confident Brody can play a key role through the tournament. We feel Brody’s skillset will be well suited to the conditions at Optus Stadium, and we’re confident we’ll see his talents on display,” Harvey said.

Cooper Connolly is also a noticeable name who might be given the captaincy, with Mitch Marsh also present in the T20 squad and being a contender for the captaincy.

Notably, Brody Couch was last seen in the Top End T20 series, where he featured for the Perth Scorchers Academy. His memorable performance came against Northern Territory Strike, where he took 3 wickets for just 30 runs from his 4-over quota. With Couch’s addition, Perth will be looking for a strong and formidable bowling lineup that adds to the intimidating power of the squad.
