Phoebe Litchfield has quickly become a sensation in women's cricket since her debut in December 2022. She made history as one of the youngest players in both men’s and women’s cricket to score a fifty in the Big Bash League (BBL).

Litchfield has also made a significant impact in The Hundred and the Women’s Premier League (WPL). In WPL Phoebe plays for Gujarat Giants, who bought for for 1 crore rupees ahead of the 2024 edition of the league.

In 2023, she was awarded the Emerging Player of the Year, outshining Bangladesh’s Marufa Akhtar and England’s Lauren Bell.

In a recent interview, Phoebe talked about various cricket topics, including her choice of jersey number, 18. When discussing this number, she acknowledged that it often brings to mind RCB stars Virat Kohli and Smriti Mandhana

However, she clarified that while she admires both players, they did not influence her decision. Additionally, she expressed her admiration for young Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal.

"Many people know that my jersey number is 18. It is not because of Smriti Mandhana or Virat Kohli, but funnily enough, both are my favourite players. It is hard to go past Kohli. I also like Yashasvi Jaiswal. He is a good batter to watch, and I like him because he is a lefty as well,” Litchfield said.

The Australian women's cricket team is currently undergoing a transition, with several veteran players nearing retirement. Phoebe Litchfield is among those set to carry on the legacy for the team.

Her performance in the WPL has been average so far, but with her undeniable talent, she is expected to make a strong comeback in future editions.
