In Punjab Kings (PBKS) final clash of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma will lead his side against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.  

Jitesh will become the 16th player to captain Punjab Kings in the league, setting a record for the most captains used by any franchise. 

They will field their third captain this season, after Shikhar Dhawan and Sam Curran. And despite notable performances from Ashutosh Sharma, Shashank Singh and Harshal Patel, this season has been largely forgettable for PBKS.


Jitesh replaces Sam Curran as PBKS skipper

Sam Curran, who was leading PBKS in Dhawan's absence, has left the team to join England for the T20I series against Pakistan ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. With Curran's departure, wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma got the opportunity to lead Punjab side. 

The last league game vs PBKS is crucial for the Pat Cummins-led team to maintain their chances for a top-two finish. 

Punjab Kings have nothing to play for except pride and ending the season with a win. A victory on Sunday would elevate them to 8th position by overtaking Gujarat Titans in net run rate (NRR).
