Bangladesh is all set to play under Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s leadership again. After the Test series against the West Indies, the Bangladeshi all-rounder is set to lead the team in the upcoming ODI series. The Miraz-led Bangladesh side is all set to face West Indies in a three-match ODI series starting on December 8.

Due to Najmul Hossain Shanto’s injury, Mehidy Hasan Miraz is leading the country in the two-match Test series. Shakib Al Hasan is still missing in the series. He played his last match against India a few months back. He also missed his farewell Test match in Mirpur due to security concerns.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz is Back at Leading Bangladesh

After leading the team in the longest format, Mehidy Hasan Miraz is back at leading Bangladesh in the ODI format. Shakib is going to miss this upcoming ODI series too. Along with that, Towhid Hridoy and Mushfiqur Rahim are out of the squad due to injury.

Mushtafizur Rahman has opted out of the upcoming series citing personal reasons. Within all the injury news, there are a couple of players who made their place in the ODI squad against West Indies. Afif Hossain Dhrubo made a comeback in the squad. Zakir Hasan and Tanzim Shakib have been included in the squad.

BCB President on Shakib’s Absence

After playing the two-match Test series against India, legendary all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been missing from Bangladesh’s squad for a while now. He missed the Test series against Bangladesh. While talking about Shakib’s absence BCB President said that the Bangladeshi all-rounder needs more preparation to get back to the squad.

“Right now, he [Shakib] is still in the list. We hope that the issues get solved in the way he wants. Definitely, he still possesses the capability to play for the national team. Playing for a franchise and playing for the country is not the same thing. You need preparation and also you really need to gel with the team. Since he can't do those things, I don't think he is in a mental state to play for the country. Because of that, we have left this thing up to him.” Ahmed said.
