Former BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has started a new innings of career. On December 1, he began his tenure as ICC Chairman by replacing Greg Barclay after being elected in August. After taking the oath, Jay Shah shared his view and vision of the growth of Test cricket and Women’s Cricket.

A new era has been started in global cricket. After serving Indian cricket for almost five years, Jay Shah has now become the ICC Chairman. In 2019, he joined BCCI as the youngest-ever Honorary Secretary. Now a new chapter is waiting for him.

Shah’s View on Test and Women’s Cricket

On December 1, Jay Shah officially took over the ICC Chairman post from Greg Barclay as he was the unanimous choice for the role. As Shah takes over his new role, a lot of things need to be figured out. After taking over the role, he shared some of his statements. He has pledged to protect the value of Test cricket and promote women’s cricket in his tenure as ICC chairman.

“Test cricket remains the pinnacle of the game, and I am dedicated to preserving its stature while enhancing its appeal to fans. Simultaneously, women's cricket will be a cornerstone of our growth strategy as we take the sport to new horizons.” Jay Shah said.


A New Era in Global Cricket

With Jay Shah’s recruitment, a new era has been started in the International Cricket Council. Following Jagmohan Dalmia, Sharad Pawar, N. Srinivasan, and Shashank Manohar’s footsteps, Shah is all set to lead the global cricket body. He has vast experience in cricket administration.

His administration journey started as a board member of the Gujarat Cricket Association. In 2013, he became the joint secretary of the GCA. In 2019, he joined BCCI as the youngest-ever Honorary Secretary. In 2021, he became the president of the Asian Cricket Council. He also managed the role as ICC’s Finance and Commercial Affairs Committee. Now a glorious chapter is waiting for the iconic cricket leader.
