West Indian pacer, Jayden Seales entered record books on Sunday night as he dismantled the Bangladesh side with his fiery bowling on Day 2 of the second Test and delivered the most economical spell in Test cricket since 1977.

Seales conceded just 5 runs in 15.5 overs and picked up 4 wickets and etched his name in history with a match-winning spell against the visitors. His economy of just 0.31 is the seventh best in the history of the game, surpassing the English great, Jim Laker, who had an economy of just 0.37 Vs South Africa.

The record for the most economical spell in Test is currently being held by India's Bapu Nadkarni, who conceded just 5 runs in 32 overs Vs England in 1964.

Seales surpasses Umesh Yadav in economy

Seales with his impressive showing surpassed India's Umesh Yadav in the economy charts. Since 1977, the record for the most economical spell belonged to the Indian seamer, who conceded just 9 runs, in 21 overs, with 16 maidens against South Africa in 2015.

However, Seales had the most economical four-fer in cricket's history. The previous best belonged to Pakistan's Pervez Sajjad who conceded runs at 0.41 runs per over. The Pakistan bowler conceded 5 runs in 12 overs, including 8 maidens Vs New Zealand in 1965.

Bangladesh crumble as Windies bowlers run riot

The Bangladesh batters got bundled out for a paltry 164 as the visitors crumbled under immense pressure. Barring Shadman Islam, who scored a fifty, none of the other batters provided resistance as Seales picked up 4 wickets and gave advantage to his side.

In reply, West Indies are 70/1, and currently trail by just 94 runs as they are in cruise control at the moment.
