Australia had a 'mankading' opportunity in the ongoing 2023 World Cup match against Sri Lanka, being played at Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium, Lucknow.

Their seasoned pacer Mitchell Starc had the ball and could have knocked the non-striker's stumps, where Kusal Perera stood, but he refrained from doing it and rather opted for a warning, and informed the umpire.

Meanwhile, Kusal Perera remained cool and even dared Starc with a gesture to give it a try. However, the Aussie chose not to take any action, only giving a warning. Social Media was abuzz with applause for the star pacer for upholding the spirit of sportsmanship in the World Cup.

Here's a glimpse of how fans are reacting to this controversy:

The Lankans started their batting innings a bang, thanks to opening stand between Kusal Mendis (78) and Pathum Nissanka (61) of 125 runs. However, the Aussie bowlers made a sensational comeback in the middle overs, scalping four wickets in just 41 runs.

At the moment, the play has been paused due to rain with the scoreboard reading 178-4 after 32.1 overs.
