No Holder, Brathwaite To Captain As West Indies Confirm Playing XI For 1st Test Vs Bangladesh

Hours before the start time of West Indies-Bangladesh 1st Test in Antigua, West Indies released their confirmed playing XI on social media platforms. The hosts will be led by Kraigg Brathwaite with Justin Greaves and Alick Athanaze to follow. Meanwhile, Shamar Joseph and Kemar Roach will lead pace attack in crucial contest.

The series opener of the 2-game Test series between West Indies and Bangladesh will begin from November 22 at the Sir Vivian Richard Cricket Stadium in Antigua. 

While the Windies are deprived of a series victory in the red-ball format, Bangladesh is also coming off a shambolic series loss against South Africa at home. So, both the teams would look to redeem themselves to end the WTC 2023-25 cycle on a good note.

West Indies announce playing XI for Antigua Test

Meanwhile, hours ahead of the start of the first Test, West Indies confirmed their playing XI for the Antigua Test, in which Kraigg Brathwaite, the veteran opener, would continue to lead the side. 

Keacy Carty, Alick Athanaze and Joshua Da Silva will anchor the middle-order. Interestingly, Justin Greaves is coming off a successful domestic tournament wherein he scored 3 centuries. Hence, he will carry huge expectations. Notably, Jason Holder is missing due to a shoulder injury that will keep him out for this series.

Meanwhile, with the ball, Shamar Joseph and Kemar Roach will lead the pace attack. Roach is an experienced campaigner who provides control and swing with the new ball. Shamar is emerging as a reliable pace option in the bowling attack.  Besides, Alzarri Joseph, coming off a 2-game ban due to unsporting behaviour, will eye redemption in the red ball format.
