New Zealand cricketers Finn Allen and Adam Milne have been ruled out of the upcoming five-match T20I series in Pakistan. The two ‘Black Caps’ players sustained injuries during a training session ahead of team’s takeoff.

New Zealand opening batter Finn Allen and fast bowler Adam Milne were both slated to tour Pakistan for a five-match T20I series in April. However, the two cricketers sustained injuries mere hours before New Zealand’s scheduled departure.

While Finn Allen coped a back injury during a team training session, 32-year-old Milne succumbed to an ankle injury.

On April 12, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) announced wicketkeeper-batsman Tom Blundell and all-rounder Zak Foulkes as respective replacements of the two cricketers through an official statement.

The New Zealand team will also be facing Pakistan without the services of several of their key players, considering cricketers like Kane Williamson, Rachin Ravindra, Trent Boult and Daryl Mitchell among others are currently plying their trades in India for the IPL 2024 season.

In the absence of multiple star attractions, Michael Bracewell was named as New Zealand captain for the series instead.

New Zealand’s five-match series against Pakistan will commence with the opening T20I at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on April 18. The venue will also host the subsequent two matches before the action will shift to Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium for the final two games.

The series, set to be played between April 18 and April 27, serves as some of New Zealand’s final set of international fixtures prior to this year’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and in the United States.
