Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced a setback in the 26th match of IPL 2024 against Delhi Capitals (DC) at Ekana Stadium. Despite a promising start, LSG couldn't maintain their winning streak at home. KL Rahul, the skipper of LSG, shared his thoughts in the post-match presentation.

Initially, LSG seemed poised to chase down the target set by DC, but the momentum shifted with Rishabh Pant and debutant Jake Fraser-McGurk's stellar performance for DC.

Although LSG started well, Kuldeep Yadav's spell turned the tide in DC's favor, derailing LSG's batting lineup. Despite Ayush Badoni's valiant effort in the death overs, LSG fell short.

KL Rahul speaks after LSG failed to defend

"To be honest, we were 15-20 runs short. We got off to a really start. We should have capitalized on it and scored 180. There was a bit of help for the pace bowlers, odd-ball was keeping low, and Kuldeep (Yadav) put the brakes on our batting unit. Jake hit the ball really well. Credit to him. We always enter the field with the same mindset. It's all about giving our best. A dropped catch, and a couple of good knocks by DC batters took the game away from us," he said.

Despite the loss, Rahul maintained the team's commitment to giving their best on the field. He attributed the defeat to missed opportunities, including a dropped catch and impressive batting displays by DC.

"Mayank's injury isn't too bad. We want to make sure to not give him a game too early. We want to protect his body. He's itching to go," he further said.

Additionally, Rahul provided insights into team changes, mentioning Mayank Yadav's injury and the decision to replace him with Arshad Khan to protect his fitness.

Overall, Rahul's post-match analysis highlighted LSG's missed opportunities and the challenges they faced against a strong DC side. Despite the defeat, LSG remains determined to bounce back and deliver better performances in upcoming matches.
