The Netherlands have announced their 15-member squad for the 2023 World Cup in India in October-November this year. As expected, regular skipper Scott Edwards will lead them in the marquee event in India.

In June earlier this year, the Netherlands put up a spectacular show during ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers, which helped them to book a ticket to India. Their sensational run of play ensured their berth in the World Cup for the record 5th time.

The last time they qualified for the main event matches was exactly 12 years back when India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka hosted the showpiece event. Despite losing all six games, their participation and efforts were well appreciated. Last year, they played the World T20 in Australia, producing some big upsets in the business end.

Three months back, they had a gala time in Zimbabwe, winning five matches leading up to the Finals of the qualifiers, where they lost to Sri Lanka. But their biggest highlight of the show was beating West Indies in a thrilling super-over match and eventually knocking them out of the qualifiers.

The likes of Logan van Beek and Bas de Leede were instrumental in powering the Dutch to the final. Now, they will be gearing up to lock horns with the top nine teams.

They are expected to come early in India to get acclimatized to the condition. They are entitled to play against strong opponents like Australia and India in the warm-up matches. After that, they will begin their campaign against Pakistan. If they can control their nerves and deliver the kind of performances they are in, they will give some teams a run for their money.
