The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 is set to begin on June 12, and Nepal Women cricket team have announced their 15-member squad for the ICC Women’s T20 Global Qualifiers 2026 on Sunday.

Indu Barma will lead the Nepal Women’s side in the qualifiers as they aim to secure a spot in the mega event alongside top teams such as England, Sri Lanka, India, Australia and South Africa.

Notably, Indu Barma, the 28-year-old Nepal captain, brings significant experience to the T20I side. She has scored 1,041 runs from 78 matches, including one half-century, at a strike rate of 83.48.

Indu is also a valuable all-rounder, having picked up 40 wickets in the format at an average of 15.45, underlining her effectiveness with the ball. The squad also includes promising players like Puja Mahato, Rubina Chhetri and Kabita Joshi, among others.

Nepal Women ready to face Qualifiers heat

For those unaware, the Nepal women’s team has featured in three Asia Cups in the T20I format and will now aim to qualify for their first-ever Women’s T20 World Cup. The Global Qualifiers will be held from January 14 to February 1, with 10 teams competing for four available spots at the T20 World Cup 2026.

The Nepal Women’s cricket team qualified for the ICC Women’s T20 Global Qualifiers for the first time in their history after a crucial win over the UAE in the Asia Qualifier.

Coming off a historic victory against the UAE in the Women’s Asia Cup, the Nepal women will be confident of securing a spot in the mega ICC tournament. Currently ranked 21st in the ICC Women’s T20I team rankings, Nepal will be keen to get their campaign underway with momentum.

In terms of international exposure, the team last played a match against the Netherlands Women in Kirtipur on January 30, 2025, which they lost by 20 runs. However, on the positive side, Nepal have shown decent form, recording three wins and two losses in their last five Women’s T20I matches.
