Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq has been granted permission by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) to participate in the ongoing second edition of South Africa's SA20 2024. This decision comes after the board had previously banned Naveen-ul-Haq, along with Fazalhaq Farooqi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, from playing in T20 leagues for two years due to a contractual dispute.

According to a recent report from ESPNcricinfo, the ACB has relaxed sanctions and granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Naveen for his participation in SA20. Fazalhaq Farooqi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman have also granted NOCs for the upcoming ILT20

Naveen-ul-Haq, set to play for Durban's Super Giants in the SA20, has already arrived in South Africa and will be available for the team's upcoming clash against Pretoria Capitals on Thursday, January 18. This comes after India completed a 3-0 whitewash over Afghanistan in the recently concluded T20I series.

Earlier, the trio of Naveen-ul-Haq, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Fazalhaq Farooqi had urged the ACB not to feature them in the central contract list for 2024, expressing their desire to explore opportunities in various T20 leagues. The ACB initially imposed a two-year ban and withheld NOCs, affecting Mujeeb Ur Rahman's participation in the Big Bash League.

However, in a significant development, the ACB has now relaxed the sanctions, allowing the players to sign central contracts and providing them with limited NOCs.In an official statement, the board declared that "ACB emphasizes careful NOC consideration to the respected players while prioritizing national duty and board's interests."

Looking ahead, all three players, including Naveen-ul-Haq, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Fazalhaq Farooqi, are expected to receive NOCs for their participation in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Naveen, who recently announced his retirement from ODI cricket, will represent Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL.

The IPL 2024, commencing in March, is anticipated to showcase the talents of prominent Afghan players, including Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Noor Ahmad, contributing to the excitement of the world's premier T20 league.
